Well guys,
It's here!! Today is quite the bittersweet day considering it's the Super Bowl, yet it marks the end of a fantastic season!! Curently, Sports-Plays.com is the #3 NFL Capper for the 2003-2004 season at ProCappers.com!! We hope to add to our 58.6% winning percentage and our net unit gain of +1440 units!
So, let's get down to the heart of the matter. Who should win today? This game reminds me alot of the Super Bowl with New England and St. Louis. Tom Brady was just the backup to Drew Bledsoe and everybody and their brother had the powerhouse Rams in a blowout. The question is, is Jake Delhomme as good as Brady turned out to be?? We say yes! The Panthers had 40+ plays with passes of 20 yards or more. The difference in this game will be Steve Smith and Mushin Muhammed vs. the wideouts of the Pats. The defensive front 4 of Carolina is one of the top units in the NFL. They should provide enough pressure on Tom Brady to disrupt his pocket rythm and get at least 1 turnover. Stephen Davis is good enough of a RB that Carolina can prevent NE from keeping them 1 dimensional. The fact that DeShaun Foster is a completely different styled RB than Davis, makes it that much tougher for NE to gameplan the ground attack. If Carolina starts out with the running game and is remotely successful, expect them to stay at it until the opportunity for play action presents itself.
As far as the Pats go, we see them as vulnerable on offense. Just like the Eagles, they have a decent cast of WR's but no real go-to guy. Their wideouts are fast, very fast and the only real way for that to be a factor is if the Panthers pass-rush isn't effective which would allow for Brady to sit in the pocket. If that happens, it could be a long day for the Panthers. But, we don't see that happening,
Watch for Delhomme to look for the savvy veteran, Ricky Proehl when things get going.
We think the main keys for Carolina are special teams play and of course, putting pressure on Brady. This is a David and Goliath matchup because nobody expected Carolina to be here today!
So, the play for today is:
Carolina Panthers +7
OVER 37.5
Carolina Panthers +250 ML....yes, carolina with a SU victory!!
Good luck,
The ******
