In this contest we have a LA team that is 19-24 overall and 20-23 ATS going into Orlando to play a banged up Magic team that is 12-34 overall and 15-28 ATS. It comes as no surprise that as McGrady goes, so goes the Magic. Statistics will bear this out when you examine that he leads them in scoring (26.8), rebounds (7) and assists (5.6). Obviously the ball needs to be in his hands, and he needs to be healthy! Since hurting his toe on 1/21/04 he has had to try to play through an injury since the Magic have no hope without him in the game and it has curtailed his effectiveness. McGrady is the same guy that two games ago scored "34" points in a half with an NBA record tying "8" three pointers. The reality of the situation is that because of the toe injury he finished with only 36 points, just two in the second stanza. Tracy has a reasonable supporting cast, though young, but they too are nagged by injuries that limit their effectiveness. Drew Gooden 12 ppg 7 reb) has a hip flexor, Keith Bogans (10 ppg) has a strained right quad and point guard Tyrone Lue (10 ppg 4 asst) has a strained knee.
The Clippers on the other hand are relatively injury free and have played .500 basketball over the stretch of the last ten games overall and ATS. LA is led by Corey Maggette (20.3 ppg 6 reb), Elton Brand (20 ppg 12.1 reb), Quentin Richardson (17ppg 6 reb), Rookie Chris Wilcox (8.3 ppg 5 reb), and point guard Jaric (8ppg 5 asst). In the only game between this two this year, LA won and covered at home on November 15. Neither one of these teams may be playoff bound, but one is reasonably healthy as stated earlier and the other is banged up and trying to play through this because they can't afford to rest their star. LA is 6-10 ATS away and Orlando is 4-8 ATS as a home favorite and 2-6 ATS as a home dog. Stick with your boys from the RED ZONE and take the Clippers and cover on Saturday.
