Members walk away happy yet again on Sunday. We go 4-2 on the day, ending a spectacular hoops weekend as we go 11-3 Friday-Sunday on the hardwood. The Spurs responded well on Sunday after their 3-game losing streak. It was a game needed before this big one against the Pistons who come in winners of 12 straight. Winning 12 in a row is difficult in this league but Detroit hasn’t exactly taken down the best teams during the streak. The teams they have defeated are a combined 213-263, with 7 of the 12 teams having losing records. No team is more than 8 games over .500. Detroit is 20-1 this season when they score 90 or more points but they are only 8-12 when scoring under 90. The Spurs have one of the best defenses in the league and they have given up 90 or more points only 4 times in their last 21 games. One of those occurrences happened on Sunday against Boston but the Celtics put up 34 fourth quarter points against the reserves. This game is big for Detroit but they have a road division game at Indiana coming up on Tuesday so they may be peeking ahead just a little. The Spurs have dominated this series of late, winning the last 6 meetings and covering the last 5.
