Florida St. Seminoles at Virginia Cavaliers 1:00 pm EST

    Virginia –1 (2 Units)

Virginia stands at 0-3 in the ACC for the first time since Pete Gillen's first season as head coach. This is a much better team than their record indicates as they have faced Duke, Georgia Tech and NC State on the road. Still, there is a lot of pressure on the coach’s shoulders come Sunday when Florida State comes to University Hall. All of a sudden, only four games into the season, this is a must win for Virginia. Dropping to 0-4 in the league, losing at home to an upstart program is not acceptable. Virginia has 10 players who are averaging 10 or more minutes per game. The Cavaliers also have just one player who is averaging more than 30 minutes per game – senior Todd Billet at 32.1 minutes per game. Virginia has 5 players averaging in double figures thanks to superior ball control and movement. They have had five players reach double figures in scoring in three of their 14 games. The Cavs are third in the ACC with a 1.20 to 1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Billet is seventh among all ACC players with a 2.32 to 1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Virginia already has four games this season in which it has committed fewer than 10 turnovers. Florida St. is not a good team on the road. They are 2-3 away from home with wins over Miami and Stetson, not exactly your best competition with the Canes ranked 158th and Stetson 249th. They were shelled at Florida and lost their most recent game at Clemson on Tuesday. Virginia is 8-4 versus Florida State at University Hall and has won its last four home contests against the Seminoles.
