Mississippi St. Bulldogs at Louisiana State Tigers 3:00 pm EST
LSU –3.5 (2 Units)
We went against the Tigers last weekend as they snuck out a win against Alabama as 7.5 points favorites. This weekend, the line is much more in their favor and they face a team off a very disappointing loss on Tuesday. Mississippi St. rallied from a 16-point deficit in the second half, taking a 66-65 lead with a minute left but Erik Daniels grabbed a tipped desperation pass out of the air and laid it in as time expired to give Kentucky an improbable win. The win over Alabama gives LSU its first 2-0 SEC start since the 1994-95 season. The Tigers have continued to keep teams scoring down so far this season, most recently allowing just 60 points at New Orleans, the 11th straight game that no team has scored more than 66 and the seventh time LSU has held the opposition to 60 or fewer points this season. LSU has won 13-straight at home, which right now is presently tied for the 12th longest active home winning streak in the country. LSU has won nine of its last 11 SEC regular season games dating back to last season and 11 of its last 14 games against SEC teams including the 2003 SEC Tournament. LSU has won 26 of their last 28 games it has out rebounded an opponent. The Bulldogs are led by Baylor transfer Lawrence Roberts who averages 16.7 ppg and 11 boards per game but the Tigers are one of a few teams who can match up against him. Roberts is second in the league in rebounds behind LSU's forward Jaime Lloreda, who enters the game averaging 18.1 ppg and 11.8 rebounds a contest. The Tigers also feature one of the nation's top freshmen in 6-8, 240-pound forward Brandon Bass, who presently tops all Southeastern Conference freshmen in scoring (14.0 ppg), rebounding (7.9 rpg) and blocks (2.2 bpg). Mississippi State has lost six straight against ranked teams and while LSU isn’t ranked, they are right on the cusp of the top 25.
