  • Free NCAAF Predictions for this week: Baylor vs. Oklahoma

Before the college football season began, this game was circled as the marquee matchup in the Big 12. Most NCAAF experts believe that both teams would be undefeated and that this game would determine the winner of the conference. Now Oklahoma is sitting with two losses and Baylor has one loss and both need a lot of help to keep their conference championship and playoff hopes alive. This has now turned into an almost guaranteed elimination game, with the loser having almost no shot at winning the conference. The winner will be in a great position within the conference and could potentially slide into a playoff spot if they continue to win and things fall in their favor. One thing we know for sure is that we are going to see an entertaining game with a lot of points when these two teams meet in Norman this weekend.

Baylor is coming off of a dominating victory over Kansas at home, which was a surprise to no one. The Bears have been a different team at home than they have been on the road for most of this season, especially when they play quality opponents. Traveling to Norman will be a huge test since the Sooners will be looking for revenge after they were knocked off last year in Waco.

Quarterback Bryce Petty hasn't had the Heisman type season that many have expected, but he has been battling through some injuries for most of the year. Even though they have struggled on the road, Baylor always gets hyped up when they play OU. Both teams are playing similar styles of football this season with potent offenses and decent defenses. If this one gets into a shoot out, which is expected, it's hard to tell which team will have the advantage.

Oklahoma dominated Iowa State from the beginning of the game last weekend. For the first time this year, the Sooners got the performance from quarterback Trevor Knight that they were expecting at the beginning of the season. Knight found his rhythm at the perfect time with the high-scoring Bears coming into town. Quarterback play will likely be the deciding factor in this game, which should feature a lot of points from both sides. Bob Stoops knows it's important to jump ahead of Baylor early in the game so expect to see an up tempo offense from Knight that could include some trick plays. With star receiver Sterling Shepard's status in the air after suffering an injury last weekend, Knight will be looking for other weapons to get the offense going.

The Sooners are slight favorites to win the game at home against the Bears, likely because of the high level of play by Knight last weekend. Oklahoma seems to be getting better each week and are in a good position to win this game. If the Sooners are able to shut down Baylor's running game, then they should be able to keep their offense out on the field more. The game will likely come down to which quarterback has fewer turnovers. In high-profile games like this, there will be a lot of momentum swings so the team that takes advantage should find themselves victorious. It's tough to knock off OU at home and the fans will be charged up for this early game. The OU defense will step up and Knight will make enough plays to lead his team to a victory.

NCAAF predictions against the spread for this week:
