George Washington Colonials at Massachusetts Minutemen 2:00 pm EST

    George Washington –2 (2 Units)

George Washington has struggled on the road losing their last 5 road games but all of those opponents were far superior to the Minutemen. George Washington is coming off a 78-60 victory over Temple while the Minutemen are coming off a 78-64 defeat at the hands of La Salle last Wednesday at home for their third straight setback. The Colonials have games against Texas, St. Josephs, Gonzaga and Charlotte under their belt. Only the loss to Texas was by more than 9 points and they defeated the 49ersin their opener. UMass has played a much lighter schedule with games against Connecticut, Texas Tech and Tennessee. Their game against the Vols was their closest, losing by 8 points at home. Distributing the ball is a motto of coach Karl Hobbs and George Washington is living up to expectations. The Colonials rank second in the league in assists with a 15.2 assists-per-game average, up from sixth (13.28 apg) last season. Another indicator of how well George Washington is distributing the ball this year is in the fact that only one Colonial ranks among the league’s top 20 scorers but two Colonials are ranked among the league’s top 20 assist men. This is the deepest squad at George Washington in 3 years as ten different Colonials are averaging at least 10.0 minutes a game. UMass is very young and their 5 wins have come against teams ranked no higher than 145th (Marshall) with the other 4 teams ranked 314th, 264th, 181st and 289th. The Colonials are ranked 62nd in our ratings.
