Columbia Lions at Fordham Rams 7:00 pm EST

    Columbia +7.5 (2 Units)

When two equally bad teams take the court, grab the points. Fordham is a 7.5-point chalk and we can’t see it. The Rams have won 5 of their last 38 games and 2 of those were forfeits from St. Bonaventure last season. They are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite dating back to the 2001-02 season. This season, they are 11th in the A-10 in scoring (65.1 ppg), 11th in field goals (40.5%), 12th in free throws (59.1%), 10th in turnovers (15.0 tpg) and 10th in rebounding (32.4 rpg). They will most likely be without the services of 3 of their 6 top scorers as Mark Jarrell-Wright is still recovering from knee surgery while John Blackgrove and Drew Williamson are both questionable. They account for 36 of their 65 ppg. Columbia has played a rough road schedule of late with games at Villanova, California and Washington. They hung tough at Villanova before losing by 8 points. The Lions have improved dramatically on offense from a year ago. They are averaging 65.4 ppg (4th in the Ivy League), which is 15.8 points higher than their average last year. They scored more than 50 points only 14 times last season but they have accomplished that in every game this season and have eclipsed 66 points in 6 games compared to only once last season. In their league, they are 5th in shooting (42.5%) and 3rd in free throws (71.2%). 8 of their 11 games have been decided by 9 points or less and 4 of those 8 were against teams with a higher ranking than Fordham. In what should be a game played at a snails pace, we’ll take the generous number here.
