  • Week 15 Recap and Free Play

We went 1-2 in football, but 4-2 in basketball to give us a winning week. For the season, we are hitting 56% in NCAAF, 57% in NFL, and 66% on our best bets, for a total of 16.5 Units.

Take advantage of our Bowl Special: $29 which includes the rest of the NFL season and a copy of
my e-book "The Winning Edge" which covers the fundamentals of football and basketball,
money management, and tips for selecting a handicapper.

The book is also available for $5.99.

Not much happened this week in college, other than Johnny Manziel winning the Heisman and Army finding yet another way to lose to Navy. Manziel is the first freshman to win, and has 3 more season left to try and get another, but he history against him. Some pretty good winners failed to repeat. Now that we are entering the bowl season, one thing to consider when handicapping is the coaching changes, as those leaving bowl teams will not coach them in the game. That being said, it was certainly a stunner to see Tommy Tuberville leave Texas Tech for Cinncinati. This week:

Nevada vs Arizona: Rich Rod has the Wildcats in a bowl game in his first season against a pretty good Nevada team.

Toledo vs Utah St: The nation will get to see the very underrated WAC champs shine against Toledo

    NFL

Several teams are starting to fade that looked like locks to make a January run only a few weeks ago.

Baltimore: with their schedule, they could lose out and finish 9-7. They must be feeling the pressure, as they seemed to have made a panic move on Monday firing the OC. The reality is the QB and OL isn't playing very well

Atlanta: The Falcons will make the playoffs, but their suspect D is starting to raise doubts about this team's chances in January.

Chicago: The Bears could very well miss the playoffs, which means a possible surprising coaching vacancy that seemed impossible a few weeks ago.

Pittsburgh: injuries aside from the QB, they don't make enough plays on offense which puts more pressure on their aging defense.

    Other observations:

There may very well be a Santa Claus. At least for the Jets. They could very well back into the playoffs with three very winnable games left.

Arizona's entire roster should be docked a full paycheck for that effort on Sunday. Weren't they 4-0? Oh well, at least it wasn't a home game, then they would have to refund some tickets.

6 4th quarter comebacks for Andrew Luck this season. I hope that gets taken into consideration when dishing out post-season awards.

Looks like DUI's are a problem again in the NFL.

    This week:

NYG vs Atlanta: was Carolina a blip or a forshadowing of what is yet to come.

Denver vs Balt: can the new OC stop the bleeding?

SF vs NE: a preview of a February game?

    Play on: Rice +1

The Owls finished the year strong, and will be playing in thier first bowl game in a while. Teams playing in their first bowl in several years make for a nice play. In addition, it is a de facto home game, as it will be played in Houston
