As many of you know, one of our many, many weapons is our magical computer database. We have one of the strongest system plays in college hoops going tonight and it’s frightening how much the logic behind the system personifies the game that it applies to. We’ll explain at Godspicks.com.

    CBB
    NEBRASKA +3 Minnesota
Minnesota has struggled this year to quality foes and their only win to a team in the top 200 RPI was the Gay Bobs of Oral Roberts. With the six teams the Gophers have defeated sporting an average RPI of 240, they don’t have anything that resembles a quality victory.

They have faced teams the caliber of the Cornhuskers—and failed falling at Utah in the second round of the Preseason NIT and at Virginia in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Gophers are a team that needed overtime to defeat Furman and Duquesne. Nebraska (8-1, RPI No. 51) has victories over Arizona State and Tennessee and the Cornhuskers’ only loss came at undefeated Creighton.

Do they match up well to Nebraska? While the Cornhuskers went 11-19 a year ago and finished last in the Big 12, they dominated Minnesota.

In arguably their most disappointing performance of the season, the Gophers fell behind 16-0 to the Huskers and didn’t score until more than six minutes had been played. Never competitive, a Gophers team ranked No. 20 nationally at the time, lost by 20 points.

Nebraska is patient on offense and is good at controlling the pace of a game. The ‘Huskers are 13th nationally and first in the Big 12 in scoring defense (52.8 points per game allowed). No team has scored more than 64 points against Nebraska this season. The Gophers, however, have had little success under Monson when the pace is slow. In Monson’s four-plus seasons at Minnesota, the Gophers are 7-34 when scoring 65 or fewer points.

It’s a game that will go down to the final bucket. Let’s just hope we don’t get screwed in OT.
