How good has Freshman Kris Humphries been? The McDonald’s All-American has blown
up in his first eight games with the Golden Gophers, averaging 23.9 PPG and 11.3
rebounds per game. Humphries originally signed with Duke, but has found a home
in the Big Ten with Minnesota. North Carolina transfer Adam Boone has fit in
nicely at point guard (9.9 PPG and 4.9 assists per game). Teamed up with a solid
core of veterans in seniors Michael Bauer and Ben Johnson…and junior Maurice
Hargrow…the Gophers are slowly making a name for themselves. These additions to
an already solid core have eased the loss of Rick Rickert to the NBA (by the way,
bad decision Ricky).
Dan Monson’s squad has started off nicely, 6-2 overall and 5-0 at home.
Minnesota is known to be a beast at home, and should be able to take care of an
emerging Nebraska team. Lay the small spread.
