  • New Orleans at Jacksonville

    1pm ET
New Orleans Saints @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Although the New Orleans still have a very slim chance of making the play-offs we're forecasting Jacksonville to upset them today and put an end to any mathematical hopes they may have had of seeing play-off action.

Overall this season New Orleans are 7-7 both SU and ATS having embarrassed the Giants 45-7 last week. But they have a history of promising a lot only to deliver a little and are just 4-8 ATS in their last 12 December games.

Jacksonville are 3-3 straight-up recently but overall this season are just 4-14. They have covered five of their last six to improve to 7-7 ATS. Last week they were beaten 27-13 by the red-hot New England Patriots but in their three most recent home games they have routed the Texans 27-0 and beaten the Bucs and Colts. The Jags own the league's sixth best defense allowing 20.8 points per game and are holding opponents to a league-low 3.1 yards per carry this season. Their defense gives them a decided advantage over the Saints today.

They will also have some extra motivation as Mark Brunell has been made a team captain for his final home contest in a Jaguars' uniform and will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. Brunell was Jacksonville's starting QB for their first eight seasons and is easily the most popular player in team history. "I don't know that there's ever been anything like this done," coach Jack Del Rio said. "The Jaguars wanted to do something and this is something we're comfortable with. He's been excellent all year; very much a team guy."

The Jags are 5-1 ATS the last three seasons as a home favorite of 3 points or less. Expect them to be focused today and post a victory in their final home game of the season.

    Recommended Play: Jacksonville -2.5
