Tough loss last night as Louisville died on 6 yard line late in the game and you saw the hearts break in Arlington as Texas gave away an easy win. I was wrong but was so close to being right on the money… sorry about that, but I love my plays today… I am crushing my man or he’s going to crush me… I feel very strong here.

NC State (-7.5) @ East Carolina
5 Units NC State Wolfpack -7 (BUY DOWN ½ POINT)
These two schools are about 80 miles apart have a strong yet little known interstate rivalry and meet up today for the 5th time in 7 years and is expected to be an up and down track meet in the early stages.
NC State (5-1) has found themselves in the discussion for a share if not the winner of the Atlantic division with only FSU standing in the way and they‘re up next; Maryland will soon drop a couple games and move aside.
Don’t worry about the look ahead; the rivalry and chance to build on this fantastic start will keep NC State as well as ECU focused. NCST has won all but one game so far and even that single loss vs. VA Tech was a lot closer than the 41-30 final score indicates; State had the lead with 1:45 sec left in the game.
QB Russell Wilson is a strong passer with capable downfield receivers facing a defense that has allowed 42 ppg in 2010. There will be points scored to be sure, the 69 point total is high for a reason.
The difference in the match will be the mistakes Dominique Davis, ECU’s QB, is prone to make. Davis has 14 TD’s this season and some spectacular and thrilling comebacks but he’s also been picked 9 times and NC State has several picks this season already; FS Bishop had 3 picks in the last two games and CB Wilson has two pick sixes.
ECU has been thrilling so far this year hanging with a decent So. Miss team last week, eventually winning in the last seconds of the game by 1 point, but NC State won’t be so forgiving.
It’ll be a track meet at times, but NC State will gradually build the lead to more than two TD’s obtaining that coveted cushion TD you’ll want into the forth quarter holding on for a 10-14 point win.
Buy that insurance if you can, I have seen this line growing so get on the one early as it goes off at noon EST.
5 UNITS on NC STATE… Wolfpack 45 ECU 31.
Boston College @ Florida State (-21.5) (BUY DOWN ½ POINT)
5 Units on Seminoles -21
BC cannot score, averaging just under 19 ppg; FSU will cruise to the lead and it be about the point spread only; and it’s a big one at 21 points. But none the less, FSU will want to impress and scoring can’t be helped. FSU averages almost 38 ppg and has allowed 15.7 points.
We all know what happened in Norman and FSU since have been lights out. Take away the Oklahoma game and FSU has allowed no more than 17 points vs. Miami, 14 vs. Virginia and 10 vs. BYU, shut out Wake Forest and allowed 6 to Samford… how Samford got 6 and Wake didn’t is another issue.
Jimbo Fisher has turned this Seminole squad into one resembling the glory years and the defense will not take the foot off the gas… I don’t see the Eagles getting 200 yards of total offense as FSU rolls by 4 TD’s or more.
5 Unit play FSU… Seminoles 45 Eagles 10
Southern Mississippi (-15) @ Memphis
3 Units on Golden Eagles laying the 15 points
This game is as much about Memphis’ efforts as it is about So Miss taking out their frustration as the Tigers find themselves in a tough spot. SMS were caught from behind late after controlling 95% of the game last week until the very end, when ECU scored very late in the game to edge SMS 44-43; the Golden Eagles are pissed and Memphis won’t be able to do anything about it.
The comfort of home field will keep everyone smiling and excited for the pre game crap and shortly following the kick-off the intoxicated home fans will be reminded of why they are looked at as the door mat of the conference.
SMS was in a similar situation last season as the home favorite of 14 points and walloped Memphis 36-16 and it wasn’t that close.
The Tigers do have that upset win over Mid Tenn this season yet only two covers the season in 6 games. SMS also has only two covers this season but against tougher opponents, and missing as the 32 point favorite by 4 points.
You can make excuses for covering or not, but this is a great spot for SMS to get back on track and whip a team that’ll feel more like a scrimmage than a real battle and will look to get this bad taste out of their mouth.
Memphis has no defense for the Eagles passing attack and the SMS defense has stuffed the run so far this year and should have no problem with Memphis’.
3 Unit play, So. Miss… Golden Eagles 49 Tigers 10
Texas Longhorns @ Nebraska Cornhuskers (-10)
5 Unit play on Nebraska
If you have to buy a ½ point to keep this at 10 points, do so for insurance.
Something is wrong in Longhorn country and it began to show it’s ugly head when UCLA smacked Texas around for a while a couple weeks back. Texas hasn’t 3 games in a row in since 1999; and Texas will need something special for that to not happen today.
I just don’t see Texas moving the offense up and down the field today. I know the Huskers aren’t the same without Su on defense but Texas can’t run the ball so Nebraska can play back a bit a force Gilbert to beat them and that just wont happen.
Texas has turned the ball over a number times so far in 2010, five against UCLA and 11 in all. Nebraska is better at turnovers and I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t give up one at all.
Texas’ defense is bothersome and Nebraska wont roll to easily but they’ll find their way sure enough to get up by a TD and convert on a turnover or two to grab that 10 margin we’re looking for.
Don’t sleep on Roy Helu… he’s rushed for 415 so far, an average of 8.1 per carry. Taylor Martinez is getting a lot of attention and he should, buy it’s Helu that is the foundation of this squad.
It’ll be the defense of the Huskers that will dictate the pace of the game along with ground game of Helu, sprinkle in a few sweet runs and passes from Martinez and that’s the ball game. Huskers keep pinning the Longhorns back and controlling the field position.
5 Unit play on Cornhuskers… Nebraska 28 Texas 10
Iowa Hawkeyes (-3.5) @ Michigan Wolverines
5 Unit play on Iowa
Iowa is going to the Big House with a huge challenge in taking down Michigan in their house in front of their fans for the second straight week… hard to do but they will do just that.
Last week Michigan State went into the Big House temple and played great defense… and guess what? Iowa is better, much better.
This should be an easy play for Iowa, who is still smarting from an Arizona loss they feel they let get away. If Iowa is not somehow struck with a case of the jitters and plays their game… Iowa rolls comfortably.
If you take away the INT pick 6 and KO return TD in the first half of the Arizona loss, Iowa held Arizona in check and nearly came back to get into to OT.
I don’t have any problems in backing Iowa here, I know Michigan has their backs against the wall and losing at home for the second time in a row is crazy, but Michigan is not ready for prime time and Iowa feels jilted going all the way back to losing Stanzi last year and a chance at serious BCS action, they want it back.
Robinson will have a highlight or two, but Iowa will control the game and grind out a black and blue solid win but 14+.
5 Units Iowa… Hawkeye’s 35 Wolverines 17
Two More plays that I’ll state briefly as no brainers… the spreads are huge but I don’t believe they will be a factor. Because the lines are so large I am making them 3 Unit plays, but feel free to bang them more if we are rolling like I believe you will be come 6 o’clock EST.
Utah Utes (-21) @ Wyoming
3 Units on the road favorite Utah
Utah has covered every game except Pitt where they pushed.
Boise State (-41) @ San Jose State
3 Units on the road favorite Broncos
Boise has covered every game except one vs. Org State
-38 vs. Toledo… by 43
-43.5 vs. NM State by 59
-22 vs. Wyoming by 45
If you can watch San Jose, they have a bruising back that is a lot of fun to watch… he killed Nevada last week… check him out if can; Lamon Muldrow
Other games I like but I am not rating nor betting, these plays just missed the cut…
Money management… today is a few games too many for me but I feel good about the selection above, but if I were to spread my self too thin, the law of numbers will catch up with me and I too much chalk in today’s picks.

Pittsburgh -1.5
Ohio -16
Texas Tech -3
Auburn -3
