Idaho St. Bengals vs. Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans @ Ames, Iowa 6:00 pm EST
Arkansas-Little Rock –4.5 (2 Units)
The Trojans returned home after two road losses to pick up a couple much needed wins before this trip to Ames, Iowa and the Cyclone Classic. Led by seniors Nick Zachery, Jamal Holden and Richard Hardman, Little Rock is averaging 75.8 ppg after averaging 70.8 ppg a season ago. Zachary has only played 2 games this season as he missed the last one due to a death in the family but he will be back for this one. This is a very deep and experienced team as 9 players average 14 mpg with 7 of those being juniors and seniors. That experience helps them shoot 79.3% from the free throw line, which is 17th in the country, compared to Idaho St., who is shooting 52.1% from the line, good for only 319th in the nation. Part of this reason is due to the loss of David Schroeder, who is out for the season with a knee injury. He was their most accurate shooter from the three-point line and the free throw line last year shooting 45.2% and 75.6% respectively. Jeff Gardner has taken over as their main outside threat but he is only hitting 39.3% from long range. The Bengals started their season in Alaska winning 2 of their 3 games in the Top of the World Classic. However, those two wins were against Binghamton and Texas-San Antonio who are ranked 297th and 304th out of 326 teams in our power ratings. Their two losses have come against Rice and Tennessee Tech, who are 53rd and 101st. Little Rock was within striking distance in both of their losses but fell apart on the road in both. In the neutral setting, the Trojans will have more firepower, as they are the better offense by far with a 13 ppg differential.
