Not a great board with so many heavy favorites, but I have found a few plays worth taking a look. I don’t have much time so here we go…
Cubs at Reds, 1:10 EST
REDS laying 1.5 RL 20 Dimes
The Reds get a chance to avenge one of my best pays yesterdays, how did they not score 5 or runs last night escapes me, but tonight they can let the bats fly against an unproven Casey Coleman, while Travis Wood will reap the rewards of the Reds bats that will come alive tonight.
Yankees @ White Sox 2:05 EST
Sox ML 20 Dimes
Yankees are clicking to be sure with or with A-Rod, more without lately, but tonight Floyd takes the mound. Although Gavin has been roughed up against the Twins, that’s the only team that has and if you take away those two games and he’s been very sharp. I don’t think Nova will be as sharp tonight and I see CWS by a couple runs today.
D-Backs @ SF Giants 4:05 EST
Giants laying 1.5 RL 40 Dimes
Cain is a solid arm for the Giants but looking at Lopez as an O’s fan, I know he has talent but not today. On the road, Lopez is 5.40 and 2-6 and is also 6.15 during the day. He pitched OK against SFG once but got the loss and was rocked in the other outing even though AZ won the game.
Cain is 2.59 at home (7-3), 3.02 during day games, Cain pitched against AZ once this year at home and 1 hit them with a complete game. Add the fact that the Rocks are surging and SFG wants the game just as much or more, Cain is your guy.
Phillies @ Padres, 4:05 EST
Phillies ML 30 Dimes
Boy I am still trying to figure out how Blanton summoned the skills to hold the Padres yesterday. All signs pointed to the Phillies and now the Padres are facing a possible 4 game losing streak.
Don’t let that fool you. Teams lose 4 in a row all the time and now I am convinced this is one of those times. I mentioned earlier that the hitting has to get in sync for the Phils or they were done; I believe it is and I am getting in now as the upturn is beginning and I am about to ride the Phils for a while.
Richard is outstanding, don’t get me wrong, but hasn’t faced the Phils yet. He’s 4.12 at home and 4.72 for day games. And has never been a sub 4.00 pitcher until this year. He’s had plenty of rough outings despite the Pads magic.
Hammels has been solid too, 3.89 on the road despite a 3-6 record, 3.36 for day games, and faced the Pads giving up only 2 ER’s in 8 innings and still got the loss facing LeBlanc.
