There have been some cards where there have been 40 games and we had 3-4 Premium Plays. Today is just the opposite. WAKE FOREST +8 Maryland
Maryland really has not been impressive at all on the road. Their only wins were at Eastern Michigan, a team so bad they fired their coach in the middle of the year and in a squeaker at an NC State team that has been slowed by injuries.
Wake has not exactly been all that great but they score more than two points more per game than the cumulative average of their opponents and they allow only about a point more than their foes average. So we look for them to give a mediocre road team all that they can handle.
Okay technically Wake can qualify for a bowl, so that may give them a little extra kick in the rear.
Maryland has little motivation while Wake is in that nothing to lose category against a bowl team in their backyard. Terps coach Ralph Friedgen cares so little about this game he even let his out of town players go home for Thanksgiving.
The Deacons were hurt after the loss to Connecticut, but the week off allowed them to heal somewhat. Quarterback Cory Randolph was sidelined from practices with a sprained toe, cornerback Eric King with a bruised shoulder, offensive tackle Mark Moroz with a concussion and guard Craig Jones with a hip strain, but Grobe said he expects all to be available against Maryland.
