Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Virginia Commonwealth Rams 7:30 pm EST
Virginia Commonwealth –3 (3 Units)
Virginia Commonwealth’s Domonic Jones, Troy Godwin, and Nick George are three of the best players in the Colonial Athletic Association as Jones and Goodwin were named first team preseason All-CAA while George was put on the second team. Neither Goodwin nor George played good in their opener against Iona and it showed with just a 4-point win. The good news was that Michael Doles and Alexander Harper stepped up to score a combined 35 points. Those two were expected to be significant roles players but showed that they round out an incredible lineup. Western Kentucky is in rebuilding mode as four double-figure scoring leaders are gone from last season and that doesn’t even include Chris Marcus, who missed most of last year with injuries. Also gone is coach Dennis Felton who did a great job in building this team to the point of where they are now. They were beaten pretty badly at Auburn on Friday as they shot only 37.9% and committed 22 turnovers, which really highlights how the team still lacks cohesiveness. The Rams have 5 or 6 players who can step up when needed and should be able to handle the Hilltoppers on their home court Tuesday.
