Boise State -9 at Fresno State
The Boise State Broncos have made their way up the national rankings and are now the 20th-ranked team in the country as they hit the road to battle the Fresno State Bulldogs in Western Athletic Conference action tonight. Last Saturday, the Broncos ripped through the UTEP Miners at home, 51-21, posting their seventh straight win, their 15th in a row against conference foes, and their 17th straight at home overall. BSU is still the only unbeaten team in WAC play this year at 5-0 with their only loss coming at Oregon State in the third game of the year. As for the Bulldogs, they too have been gaining momentum as the season has progressed, picking up their fourth straight win last Saturday with a 41-7 home victory against the San Jose State Spartans. The win, the most lopsided of the year for FSU, moved the team to 5-1 in league action, good enough for second place behind Boise State, setting this game up as a possible league championship tilt. Last season, the Broncos completely destroyed Fresno State in Boise, 67-21, after upsetting them in Fresno the year before.
Will high-powered Boise State blow away the Bulldogs or will Fresno State slow down the Broncos and make a game of it? Southern Mississippi -2½ over TCU
...TCU has had some very close calls this year, winning in OT at Arizona, barely getting out of South Florida with a win, and again just escaping at home vs. Louisville a couple of weeks ago. They could have just as easily lost all 3 of those games and are perhaps ripe for a loss. Their defense has not played as well lately, while the Eagles have come on strong. Both teams will be extremely fired up for this game, but we give the emotional edge to the Golden Eagles. This game is all they have focused on the entire week, while TCU has had to deal with the BCS distraction. We also expect an inspired effort from USM QB Almond who will be playing tonight in memory of his grandfather who passed away earlier in the week. The Horned Frogs embarrassed Southern Miss last season on national TV and now is the Eagles' chance for revenge. TCU is a very good team, as any squad that goes unbeaten this long is; however, they will be in the wrong place at the wrong time tonight as the emotionally charged Eagles take this one.
