NBA: New Orleans +2
Yes New orleans started the season terribly, got even worse and got crushed in the two games without Paul, he will be out again today. The new coach is still winless. But this is their best chance to turn things around. The Hornets (3-8) have won 10 straight against Los Angeles and 16 of the last 20 home games in the series dating to 1993, when they were based in Charlotte. The Clippers (4-7) have lost their last three trips to New Orleans Arena by an average of 22.7 points. Clippers also has injuries, Eric Gordon is still out--in the 7 games he played so far he is shooting over 50% (he is also the teams best 3 point shooter 46% in 5.6 attempts per game) and averaging 18.9PPG, 3.3RPB and 4APG.
NCAAB: Iowa +1.5 against Duquesne
Iowa is returning only 2 starters and the inexperience was clearly visible in their home opener loss (prior to this loss iowa was on a 26-game winning streak in home openers!) to Texas-San Antonio. Texas-Antonio plays in a lower division but they are still a decent team, even last year they almost beat Iowa, losing only by 6 points. Lot of people will write off Iowa after this home loss but they should be able to rebound against Duquesne by playing a slow defensive game. Duquense Bolding broke his wrist and is out for 3 to 4 weeks. He was the leading scorer with 25 points in Duquense home win against Nicholls St. Iowa should be able to dig out a win here.
