The New York Yankees are 1 game closer to the World Series and they have a strong record in potential closeout playoff games over their history although they remember being up 3-0, then losing four straight to the Boston Red Sox. Tonight in Game 5 of the ALCS, New York wil start A.J. Burnett and the Los Angeles will go with their ace John Lackey. The Yankees have rolled through six wins in their first seven postseason games as Alex Rodriguez has lead the Yankees offense. The Yankees have a 3-1 lead and are poised to close this one out. After a 10-1 rout in Game 4, the New York's sluggers do not look like their slowing down. Rodriguez, Jeter and Posada are the hot Yankee hitters and the Yankees have 14 homers among their 67 hits in seven playoff games. Los Angeles has not hit against the Yankees scoring just 10 runs in the series' 42 innings. Burnett is looking for his first playoff victory despite pitching fairly well in his last two starts as he got a no-decision in Game 2 despite allowing just three hits and two runs while pitching into the seventh inning of a contest that eventually went 310 minutes and 13 innings. Of the 3 pitchers in the Yankee rotation, the Angels have the best chance of hitting Burnett. They know they have to score runs tonight at home and they will be patient facing Burnett tonight. They will score runs tonight although it"s unsure they can go head to head with this hot Yankee offense who will not be slowed down by any opposing pitcher right now.
