    MIAMI HURRICANES HOST SYRACUSE ORANGEMEN

    SATURDAY NOVEMBER 15, 2003 @ 3:30 EST

AND THE BOYS FROM THE RED ZONE

    SOLVE THE PUZZLE AGAIN!

When was the last time the Miami Hurricanes lost on two consecutive weeks? That’s a question even the RED ZONE can’t answer, because it was that long ago. This week they host the Syracuse Orangemen and it’s the Canes homecoming and they are in a fowl mood to say the least. Coach Larry Coker has replaced the ineffective Brock Berlin with back-up QB Derrick Crudup for one solitary reason and that is turnovers. Berlin succeeded in keeping the Tennessee Volunteers in the game last week with three turnovers alone on his part. Syracuse tuned up for this game with a winning, but lackluster performance against the Temple Owls and are not a good road team to say the least. Orangemen have a decent ground attack led by Walter Reyes who is in the top five or six in the nation, but QB R.J. Anderson can be a Dr. Jekyll - Mr. Hyde. One week he has the passing attack going and the next it’s all Reyes. Against their quality opponents so far Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh Anderson has been less than average. The Cuse only road victory was at North Carolina in OT in their opener and that squad is now sporting a record of 2-8.

Miami is 122-16 ATS at home since 1980, and if Kellen Winslow has anything to do with it will be playing with true fire in their eyes, trying to maintain a major bowl bid. Canes are 4-0 ATS in the last four versus the Orangemen and 5-1 the last six at home. Syracuse is 3-9 ATS since 1990 versus Miami and 4-23 ATS as a road dog versus a team which is .600 or better. Lastly Miami is 5-0 with revenge off a straight up loss and truly will enter this game angry. Stick with the guys from the ZONE who gave you Atlanta as a winner last Sunday over the Giants and will follow it with another banger today. Take the Canes, give the points and watch Miami win and cover.
