    Virginia-Maryland OVER 44’
Our outlaw total has this at 47’. Maryland is minus two of their top three RB, so they will air it out under Ralph Freidgen. Virginia is averaging 33.6 points per game on the road and 427.4 yards, while Maryland is scoring at a staggering 41.8 points per game average at home. They are averaging 9.4 yards per pass attempt at home.

Maryland is well aware they must pass to win. Scott McBrien, a senior, registered his fewest passing yards this season against Northern Illinois (110 yards), Florida State (61) and Georgia Tech (47). Those three games, all Maryland losses, also were the only games in which McBrien did not complete more than 50 percent of his pass attempts.

It’s a chance for once Heisman candidate Matt Schaub to erase memories of a injury derailed season. Schaub comes off his best outing, though, completing 41 of 55 passes for 393 yards and four touchdowns in a 51-37 loss to N.C. State on Nov. 1.

Schaub has completed 71.7 percent of his throws with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions in seven games. He ranks second in the ACC to N.C. State quarterback Philip Rivers in most passing categories, including a 142.9 passer rating.

Maryland won’t be able to use their blitz packages as effectively tonight. Virginia has permitted an ACC-low eight sacks. The Terps defense’s 29 sacks are the ACC’s second most, but Maryland will temper its normal blitz schemes to offset Schaub’s quick release.
