Like we said we really don’t understand Dallas’ offseason moves unless they knew of an impending rule change in which the NBA would allow three balls in play. We did confirm with the NBA office that only one ball will be used at any one time tonight.
Now the Mavs are minus their playmaker Steve Nash. At least he was a star who dished the rock. Now a reborn Vince Carter against the high profile but defensively challenged Mavs can make a statement.
He was third in the league at 26.7 points going into Wednesday’s games. Carter is healthier and fitter than he has been in the past couple of years, and it will be a test for Michael Finley, Tony Delk and perhaps Antawn Jamison to contain him. Carter dropped 33 points on the Mavericks in 2001.
The Mavs have been unimpressive in their wins so far now have another test of their lack of chemistry without Nash.
