Denver Nuggets at Houston Rockets 8:05 pm EST

    Denver +10 (2 Units)

The revamped Denver Nuggets might surprise some people this season as they have a bunch of new faces that look to improve on their 17-win season of a year ago. With rookie Carmello Anthony, point guard Andre Miller and veteran guard Voshon Lenard, things look to improve on the offensive side of the ball as the three combined for over 44 ppg during the preseason. As a team, the Nuggets averaged 97.5 ppg while allowing 95.1 ppg. Their 84.2 ppg were last in the league a year ago. After facing the Spurs in their opener, they get a Rockets team that isn’t as strong defensively as San Antonio was on Wednesday so the offense will be able find the going a little easier. Houston will be opening a new arena to go along with a new coach in Jeff Van Gundy. Van Gundy preaches defense and the Rockets will definitely improve in that category as the season progresses. They decreased their points allowed in the preseason as they gave up an average of 84.8 ppg. The teams met in the preseason with the Rockets winning handily 102-79. The Nuggets finished 0-9 on their 3-point attempts and their starters only averaged 24 minutes each while the Rockets starting five played 29 minutes each. Denver played the Spurs tough last night as they pulled out the win and that confidence should carry over into tonight. With a low scoring game, the double-digit head start looks very good.
