Don’t think that last week’s impressive dismantling of Washington erased memories of Tampa’s Monday night fourth quarter collapse against Indianapolis. A Tampa defense that has not given up more than 13 points in any other game besides the MNF, will feast on a 49er offensive line. LG Eric Heitmann and LT Derrick Deese are out for San Francisco.
They will be protecting QB Jeff Garcia who has been battered all year—and that’s just by his teammate Terrell Owens. His back has been hurting all year and he has not even practiced on Fridays.
In the secondary, backup CB Mike Rumph continues to start in place of CB Jason Webster. That is a dropoff.
It’s also good news for the league’s most underrated signal caller Brad Johnson. Johnson is averaging 271 yards passing per game with more than two TDs per contest
Tampa MLB Shelton Quarles may even make his season debut.
