The Notre Dame Fighting Irish walk into this big conference match up off a horrendous loss at Georgetown the last time we saw them which is why I think oddsmakers have us setup for something here. The Irish are not that bad of a team and based on their two recent road games (losses of 19 points at Georgetown and 26 points at Marquette), no doubt the public is going to pound away on Villanova in this game. The way I see it is that Notre Dame cannot keep losing games on the road the way they have been losing and the latest blowout loss was really a wakeup call for these guys. The only other road game they had was back in November when they gave Georgia Tech a good run for their money and lost by only one point. Villanova is 9-0 SU at home this season and they are hard to beat in this place which is why too many people are going to bet on them with these short odds but I think its a big mistake. The match up favors the Irish who should have a huge game from Luke Harangody. Villanova doesn't not have an answer for his presence in the post and that is going to be a huge problem here. How can you possible back this Nova team that was a -9 point favorite on the road this week and lost to Rutgers by 12 points? Although they are 9-0 SU at home this season, they are only 1-5 ATS in those games and have not been cashing in for their backers at all. Notre Dame is hungry for that first road win and its going to come right here and right now in this game. Notre Dame is now 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games versus a team with a winning record and they are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games versus Big East opponents. They have also covered 35 of their last 53 games as an underdog playing on the road and that's as encouraging as it gets. Villanova on the other hand is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games versus the Big East Conference and they are also 0-7 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite. I think we see a big game from Harangody, Kyle McAlarney and Rob Kurz and this Irish team finally comes away with that elusive road win.
