Home underdogs were miserable two years ago but came back last year by hitting close to 60 percent which in more in line with what should be happening in the NFL. A live dog this Sunday is Green Bay as the Packers, who rarely got points at home in the past, have been struggling the last couple years and thus the home dog stamp. The Eagles are picked to win the NFC East by many but there is still a concern about Donovan McNabb as even he has stated he is not 100 percent year, more close to 80 percent.
The Packers ended last season on a run, winning their final four games and they look to start off the same to keep that momentum going. A lot is said about quarterback Brett Favre being too old and not being the same but this is a different team than when he used to be at the top of his game. It is about the defense now. The Packers return the starters from last year that moved the unit from 29th to 12th in yards allowed in the final four games, with just one change - Atari Bigby replacing Marquand Manuel at starting safety.
On offense, it is no longer Favre throwing it all over the place as balance is the key and the Packers are looking good up front. The starting offensive line from last season returns intact. Plus, last year's rookie guards, Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz, have nearly a full NFL season under their belts, and the zone-blocking scheme implemented last season by McCarthy should have taken root. The linebackers for the Eagles are a huge weakness as youth is everywhere while the veteran Takeo Spikes is past his prime.
As mentioned earlier, the Packers closed last season strong but Philadelphia also did the problem is that puts the Eagles in a tough situation that calls for Green Bay to win outright. Play against road teams with a moneyline of +130 to -150 in the first week of the season after closing out last season with four or more wins in last five games and had a winning record. This situation is 20-6 against the moneyline (76.9 percent) since 1983. This is an outright situation and we are getting points here making it even better. Play Green Bay Packers 1 Unit
