I like this Leo Nunez kid tonight against Texas. What has he done to get my attention? He has 4 starts to his credit since being thrown into the rotation, but has maintained a 1.80 ERA against the likes of, Boston, Texas, Toronto, and the New York Yankees. He has maintained a very respectable ERA against these teams while holding lefties to a .192 BAA and righties to a .186 BAA. Nunez has given up 4 runs in 4 games started!!!
Texas will be trying for a three game sweep tonight. Their pitcher of choice was originally Brandon McCarthey, but because of his recent shoulder injury, they will be forced to use John Rheinecker. Rheinecker has struggled of late, giving up 16 runs in his last 3 games!!! What type of teams did he face in those 3 games? How about Tampa Bay, Oakland, and Cleveland. Rheinecker gave up 7 runs in 5 innings to the Oakland A's, the team with the lowest Batting average in the American League!!!
Kansas City will be playing hard to avoid the sweep. They will have a solid pitcher on the mound, and their offense will be facing Rheinecker, who has a .367 BAA vs right handed batters!!
