Here's my Bottom Line College Football Selection for September 6th:
Take Florida +14 @ Miami-Florida
Several factors come into play with this selection. First, the revenge factor. Florida took a beating last season at the hands of Miami in the Swamp. Florida should play better, particularly on defense, in this year's contest. They held San Jose State to 3 points and they will indeed give up some points to the Hurricanes, but not the 41 they coughed up last year. Another factor is injuries to Miami's offensive line. Alongwith LG Jim McGrath's injury, 2 more linemen are doubtful for this game: Carlos Joseph and Vernon Carey. I think this will pose a problem for Frank Gore's ability to find the holes. The team speed on defense with the Gators looks better than last season and I think this will play a pivotal role in Florida covering. The last factor
to look at in this matchup is trends in regards to covering this large a spread. Miami covered a large spread in week 1 against Louisiana Tech but in the past 2 seasons, they are 8-13 ATS when giving up over 10 points. Florida however hasn't been this big a dog in about 3 years. The Gator program may have slipped in past season or 2 but overall they still have quality athletes who
can stay with the Hurricanes. I am not advocating that they will win but Florida should cover with the 2 TD spread they are getting.

The 2003 NFL season gets fully underway this Sunday! Last season, the SportsGuru went 56-36 for a solid +82 units (based on a 5-unit per play system) as he was #1 in win percentage at TrackPicks and #2 in overall units (missed #1 by 2 units)! One big reason he did so well last season was due to the fact that he pegged some early wins in the first couple of weeks to start the season at 14-2! Will he start off fast again? Part of his wagering philosophy is that some lines in the first couple of weeks are way off because of linesmaker misconceptions. The SportsGuru knows who to take and stay away from in week 1, do you? If you don't, come see him at http://www.GuruWins.com and let him help you make solid $$$ these first few weeks of the season. That way you'll be playing on the books money for the rest of the football season!
