While it wasn't a banner for the selections, they did profit and more importanly the bleeding stopped. The selections finished off the day with a record of 6-5 +2.25 units. The key wins were early in the day as Pittsburgh took care of business as +180 dog, and the White Sox benefited from a 9th inning throwing error from the pitcher in their 4-3 win...as a +150 dog. All three runline selections lost, but since all three teams lost the RL proved a valuable tool for minimizing the losses on those teams.
Baseball handicapping is a tricky creature to handle. One day, your on top of the world and feel as though you have a crystal ball, and the next day your dripping tears in your beer as you want to pull your hair. Since I play for the long haul, I try not to let either winning or losing in the short term influence how I wager on these games. When times get tough, I often find circling the wagons and digging even harder through the numbers help things get back on track. Staying focused on the long term, and maintaining discipline is the only way to profit at this game.
Friday's slate is huge, which is par for the course...and it appears most of the streaking momentum has slowed a bit, so I have some confidence in the appearance of this slate. Another winning day is needed to recoup losses for the week thus far, and these are the games I am hoping to pocket coin with.
Philadelphia (Moyer) (-1.5) +120
NY Mets (Sosa) (-1.5) +110
Chicago (NL) (Hill) -119
Milwaukee (Vargas) -105
Arizona (Petit) -120
San Francisco (Zito) (-1.5) +150
Baltimore (Guthrie) +129
Toronto (Towers) +115
Kansas City (Bannister) -130
Oakland (Braden) +155
Detroit (Robertson) +130
Condolences go out to the family of Wake Forest coach, Skip Prosser, who died on Thursday at the age of 56. A fierce competitor, he led three different teams to the NCAA tournament in his first season at the school. As a fan of the ACC, I can speak for many that Skip will be missed.
