Monday, April 16:
L.A. Dodgers (-1.5) +140
Hello, my friends. I went to bed fuming last night over what I perceived to be unfair officiating in the Spurs-Mavs game yesterday, which caused Spurs All-Star Tim Duncan to be ejected for comments he made from the bench. I felt that this cost me a Top Play of the Day win and I was very upset about it. However, when I woke up this morning and turned on the news, and saw the reports of the tragedy at Virginia Tech University, all my thoughts about yesterday's game disappeared. I have several ties to Virginia Tech, as a number of my friends have attended and/or graduated from there. I also have a number of friends who have relatives that are currently students there. As far as I know, none of these people were among the victims of today's horrific tragedy.
I have been in a slump over the last month or so, and I have been embarassed by my performance and generally bitter over what I perceived to be "bad beats" or being "unlucky" in a number of my games. The events of this morning really gave me some perspective on just how lucky I am. I wanted to share my play with everyone today (you can ride, fade, or ignore it) but I also wanted to express my sadness over today's events and encourage you all to keep today's victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
As for today's play, I think the Dodgers run line of +140 offers a tremendous value with Brad Penny on the mound. The Diamondbacks are off to a great start but I don't see them as being in the same class as this Dodgers club. Even if I suffer the worst beat of my gambling career in tonight's play, you won't hear me complain. This has been a horrible day and I am going to spend some time with family and friends tonight. I encourage you all to do the same.
Good luck tonight, guys.
