They send Right-hander Bronson Arroyo to the mound tonight, and he finished last season with a 14-11 record with a 3.29 ERA. Last year Arroyo was 4-0 with a 1.01 ERA versus the Cubs. The Reds look to keep it going tonight with good pitching and timely hitting.
The Cubs under their new Manager Lou Piniella enter this Division match up looking for their first win of the season. Lefty Ted Lilly gets the nod for the Cubs tonight. The 31-year-old signed a four-year, $40 million deal during the off season after posting a career high for wins with Toronto last season by going 15-13 with a 4.31 ERA and 160 strikeouts. CF Soriano, who received an eight-year, $136 million deal to play for the Cubs, has struggled in his career against Arroyo, going 1-for-15 with one RBI and five strikeouts. This event will be played on a cold Ohio night.
