The Bulls were stuck in neutral to start 2007, going 10-13 in their first 23 games but since then, they have caught fire and it’s the perfect time right before the playoffs. They are 13-5 over their last 18 games including an 8-2 record at home to improve their season-long record at the United Center to 27-9, the best home record in the Eastern Conference. Chicago is coming off an 11-point win over Portland and more often than not it responds with another win, going 40-21 ATS in its last 61 after a win by 10 points or more.
Detroit has been playing just as well but it has struggled against the top-tired teams lately and that is exactly where the Bulls fall. In their last 20 games, the Pistons have played seven games against teams ranked in the top ten and 13 ranked outside the top ten. They are 11-2 in those 13 games but against the top ten, they are just 2-5. One of those wins came against the Bulls at home but it was by just two points in a game Detroit could have and really should have lost. Chicago won the first meeting at home by 17 points.
The flu is running through Detroit right now as there are now there players affected and all will be game-time decisions. Chris Webber has been struggling to overcome his illness for a week, Richard Hamilton has been down for a few days and Davis went down with it on Wednesday. There is a good possibility the former two will play but for anyone who has had the flu, they are not going to be 100 percent and their energy will be next to nothing. Better now than in the playoffs as the Pistons have a firm hold on the top spot in the conference.
Chicago has one of the best defenses in the league but it hasn’t shown of late. The Bulls have stepped up against their rivals however as they have held the Pistons to 36.3 percent shooting in their first two meetings. As far as playoffs go, this game means a lot more for Chicago as the Bulls are currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference standings but trail Cleveland by just one game for the 2nd place spot. The Cavaliers are on deck and wins here and Saturday means they move into that coveted 2nd spot. Play Chicago Bulls 1 Unit
