New Orleans Hornets at Memphis Grizzlies 8:00 PM ET

    New Orleans Hornets E -110

New Orleans is coming off an easy home win against the Celtics on Monday and playing the second of a back-to-back set is not a problem. The Hornets are a respectable 8-10 in the second game of a back-to-back including an 11-6 ATS mark. After defeating the team with the second worst record in the NBA, they get a shot at the team with the worst record. New Orleans looked as loose as it had in quite some time against Boston last night as they moved within 1.5 games of Golden St. for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Memphis is coming off a home win against Chicago on Saturday and while costly turnovers, 27 in total, missed free throws and disorganization on defense nearly cost the Grizzlies against the Bulls, they managed to pull it out. While a win like that could provide some momentum for a lot of teams, not so much for the Hornets. They are 0-16 on the season following a win as they have yet to win back-to-back games on the entire season. Those 16 losses have come by an average of nine ppg so they haven’t really been close either.

The Hornets are 5-20 when they allow at least 100 points. Conversely, when the opponent scores fewer than 100 points, they are 25-17 including a 10-3 mark in their last 13 games and despite Memphis topping the century mark in four of its last five, we should not expect to see it again. The Grizzlies are 3-11 in their last 14 games with the three wins coming by a total of 10 points with two of those victories coming by a point each. They are also just 3-9 in their last 12 games at home and their 12-22 home record is the 2nd worst in the league.

New Orleans had won five straight in this series before Memphis pulled out a four-point victory in their last meeting last month. The Hornets have been one of the best revenge teams around this year as they are 21-12 ATS revenging a loss against opponent this season. Getting back into Western Conference action is also a plus as New Orleans is 20-6 ATS after a non-conference game this season. Memphis meanwhile is a shoddy 9-29 within the conference this season including a 1-13 record in its own division. Play New Orleans Hornets 1.5 Units

Indiana Pacers at Houston Rockets 9:35 PM ET

    Houston Rockets -10.5 -115

The Rockets are off a 124-74 road win in Philly on Sunday, the most lopsided road win in team history. Yao (24.5-9.3) had 24 and 10, his fourth double-double in the eight games since his return. Houston lost at red-hot Cleveland in Yao's first game back, but have won SIX of the last seven. The Pacers ended their 11-game losing streak on Saturday (beat the Hawks 113-90 at home) and despite the team's slide, still owns the final playoff spot in the East (have made nine straight postseason appearances). Back on Dec 26 in Indiana (just three days after Yao broke his leg), the Pacers beat the Rockets 81-76. I'm not sure that will be much of a motivating factor but I do like the Rockets in this one. Indiana is still battling constant nagging injuries for multiple players plus the Pacers are not a high-scoring team even when 100%. Houston's 91.2 PPG allowed is the 2nd-best figure in the league and I'm laying the points with the Rockets. Play Houston Rockets
