Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels 12:25 PM ET

Over 141 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets/UNLV Runnin’ Rebels -105

Two hot offenses take the floor on Friday as Georgia Tech and UNLV should be lighting up the scoreboard early in the day. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 112-point performance in a loss to Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament and that will skew their scoring average but they are still shooting 50.8 percent over their last five games. The Yellow Jackets are ranked 16th in the nation in scoring average on the season with 79.1 ppg, making them the highest-scoring Georgia Tech team since 1995-96.

UNLV has not been outdone as it has been shooting the ball very well also. The Rebels are shooting 50.7 percent from the floor over that same five-game span including a very solid 45.1 percent from behind the arc. The Rebels averaged 82.0 ppg over three games to win the Mountain West Conference tournament. UNLV has played some of its best ball down the latter stretch of the season and on the year, it has reached the 70-point mark in 24 of its 34 games, going 21-3 in those contests.

Coaches tend to not give away much when it comes to what kind of game is expected but Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt isn’t holding back. “Everybody is saying that it's going to be a fun game because we both play up-and-down styles, and I take it that it will be a fast-tempo type of game,” Hewitt said. Even though the Yellow Jackets have played some lock-down defense at times this season, they seem to be more than happy in getting into a running game with UNLV.

The Rebels have scored in the 100’s once, the 90’s three times and the 80’s eight times and those 80 or more efforts is important seeing that the Yellow Jackets are allowing 62.7 ppg in their wins and 81.9 ppg in their losses. Both teams have had issues scoring when playing in true road games but neutral site games are a different story, especially for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 89 ppg on 48.8 percent shooting in four neutral site games on the year split between Maui and Tampa. The offenses have the upper hand here against the low number. New Mexico St. Aggies vs. Texas Longhorns 7:25 PM ET

New Mexico St. Aggies +8 -107

Reggie Theus went just 16-14 in his first year at Las Cruses but big things were expected of him and his team this year, as he returned four starters and had four Division I transfers. While the Texas roster is filled with freshman and sophomores, New Mexico State saw nine players average at least 15 MPG and ALL ere either junior or seniors. The Aggies have size with the 7-0 Iti (6.3-4.3) and two 6-9 forwards, Nelson (11.8-6.8) and Passos (8.5-6.0). Small forward Hawkins (15.7-6.8) is both the team's leading scorer and its leading rebounder. Four guards get significant playing time, led by Ingram (10.4). Now there is no denying Texas' talent, as 6-9 freshman Durant (25.6-11.3) may be the national P-O-Y? Guards Abram (15.4) and Augustin (14.5-6.7 APG) are wonderful plus the 6-7 James (7.9-7.4) and the 6-9 Atchley (3.9-3.8) give Durant solid support. However, the Longhorns have had trouble holding leads this year and they blew a 22-point lead just this past Sunday to Kansas, in the Big 12 title game. The team's next loss (here?), will likely be Durant's final game for the Longhorns and while I can see Texas making a solid run in this tourney, I can also see them losing early. Beware of the Aggies plus-the-points in this one. Play New Mexico St. Aggies
