An amazing 69% of Arizona's road games this season have gone Under and we expect that trend to continue tonight as the Diamondbacks continue their series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Arizona have won three straight to improve to 63-55 (.534) but still trail the AL West leading Giants by 10 games.
Miguel Batista has been outstanding on the road this season going 4-2 with a 1.99 ERA. His excellent ratio of 61 K's to just 17 BB's on the road is just one example of his improvement. Overall this season his ERA of 2.92 ranks eighth in the National League.
Batista is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in two career starts against the Reds.
Cincinnati have slumped to 52-66 (.441) this season and fifth in the NL Central. Following another shut-out last night they have not scored a single run in their last 19 innings.
Former reliever John Bale makes just his second career start tonight. In his first outing as a starter the leftie lasted 4 2/3 innings against the Padres and allowed five hits and no earned runs. He had solid recent numbers as a reliever and should be able to prevent the Diamondbacks from spoiling our total play.
These teams combined for just two runs last night and four of five games between these teams in Cincinnati the last three seasons have gone Under.
While we expect Arizona to win tonight we believe the Under offers the most value.
