  • LA Dodgers @ Florida Marlins

We're going to recommend the Under tonight as rookie phenom Dontrelle Willis and the Florida Marlins host the low scoring LA Dodgers.

The Marlins are 9-2-1 Under recently with those 12 games averaging a total of 5.7 runs being scored. The Dodgers have been a strong Under play all season with an amazing 68.2% of their games falling below the posted total.

Florida have done a fantastic job in recovering from being 10 games below .500 at one stage earlier this season to now be 64-53 (.547). They are second in the AL East and tied with the Phillies for the lead in the National League wild-card race.

The Dodgers have managed to post a 60-56 (.517) record despite an offense that is producing just 3.5 runs per game. They had won six straight before yesterday's 3-1 loss to the Cubs. LA have scored three runs or less in 14 of their last 19 games and we expect them to struggle tonight against Willis.

Willis is 11-2 this season with a 2.56 ERA. Only twice has he allowed more than one earned run at home...once on his debut and the other time following a rain delay when he just didn't have his stuff. Strange things can happen in MLB but it would be simply staggering if the Dodgers got anything against him tonight.

LA send 26 year-old southpaw Odalis Perez (7-9, 4.52 ERA) to the mound tonight. Interestingly he has performed better on the road than at home this season, posting a 4-3 road record and 3.31 ERA. Perez has an impressive 46 strikeouts to just 19 walks in his last ten starts. The Under is 14-7-1 in his 22 starts this season.

Ten of sixteen games in this series have gone Under the total over the last three season and we're very confident of that trend continuing tonight.
