When listing a horse as a $2.80 winner that means for every two dollar bet you are paid .80. A horse listed as a $3.60 winner means for every two dollars bet you are paid $1.60. It is listed as $3.60 because that includes the $2 bet. So in the instance of what a $3.60 horse pays on a $10, that would be 5 times ($10 divided by 2) $1.60, so $8.00.
