  • Angels at Orioles preview and pick!

We're going to recommend the Under tonight as the Anaheim Angels go for their sixth straight win when they open a four-game set at Baltimore.

The defending World Series Champions have won 12 of 16 to improve to 49-43 (.533) and third in the AL West, 8 1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners.

Ramon Ortiz' eleven wins at the break are the most by an Angel in 12 years. Overall this year he is 11-6 with a 4.41 ERA and he looks to keep the Angels hot run going tonight. The 30 year-old Dominican right-hander is 7-1 with a 3.35 ERA over his last eight starts and has averaged a solid six innings per outing during this stretch. He has allowed four or less earned runs in all but two of those outings and in his last appearance allowed just three hits over six scoreless innings against the Twins. In eight career starts against the Angels he is 3-3 with a 2.93 ERA. Expect at least six strong innings tonight from Ortiz before he hands it over to the best bullpen in the majors (2.49 ERA). Amazingly the Angels have allowed just eight runs TOTAL during their six-game winning streak.

It's stating the obvious to say that outfielder Garret Anderson has been red-hot recently with an eight-game hitting streak followed by the Home Run Derby win and All-Star MVP earlier this week. He leads the Angels with a .316 average, 22 homers and is third in the league with 78 RBI.

The Orioles have lost five of seven and at 41-50 (.451) are fourth in the AL East. Their last six games have been against the Mariners and Athletics and they yielded two runs or less in four of those games.

Right-hander Rodrigo Lopez (2-5, 5.65 ERA) has allowed just four runs in his past 21 2-3 innings and is 2-2 with a 4.25 ERA in six starts since returning from the DL. He won 15 games as a rookie last year and looks to have regained that form in recent weeks. Lopez has faced the Angels three times previously and is 1-1 with a 2.49 ERA.

We're expecting two strong pitching performances tonight and recommend the Under.

Im all over the under in this one.
Lopez has been hot and i dont expect him to cool off anytime soon.I m also taking the orioles to win this game.
I look for the orioles to go on a winning streak to start the second half of the season off.

Its better to be half smart then to be half sure.

I am playing the over in this game only because the Northcoast comp. line has the over, and they have had a terrific run over the last 5 months(they have been cold over the last week though).
