East Carolina v. UAB
A pair of schools trying to notch their first win of the season meet at Legion Field this Saturday, as the East Carolina Pirates tangle with the UAB Blazers in Conference USA action. ECU is optimistic it can turn things around thanks to the return of 13 starters from a club that went 5-6 a year ago. The Pirates are 12 - 2 ATS in their last 14 games as road dogs of 6 or more.
As for UAB, which welcomes back 12 starters from last year's club that went 5-6, now heads into a new season without their start QB Darrell Hackney. Last years matchup saw the Blazers blow a late lead and lose 31 - 23 to the Pirates. Last week the Blazers blew another lead in the 3rd quater 17 - 14 over the Oklahoma Sooners and lost again. This team has trouble closing the game and they have not went out to sign a great closer and they will continue to have problems on Saturday putting the game away late.
As favorites, UAB was 2 - 5 last year and 6 - 12 ATS since 2003.
