I think your pitching has ALOT of question marks. Gallardo is out and coming off surgery (Who knows). Carpenter is scary as hell. Greinke scares me and he pitches for a team that will lose as much as they win. Marcum? He doesn't scare anybody really. I like Paps and Big Z but injuries and losses could kill that staff!

Yeah, although there were some guys I really wanted that didn't fall to me like I thought they would.

You and I took exactly opposite approaches. I loaded up on hitting while you racked up top 10 pitchers. We'll see what works.

Look at Greinke's numbers the last two month of the season. Somebody has to get the wins for them even if they lose 100 games.

My line-up is deadly and pitching will get me by (hopefully).
Am I the longest tenured BC member?

Gil Meche will get KC's wins. I hope.

It is funny you say that because every single year i have played fantasy bases, i've loaded up on hitters and picked pitchers later. It has worked and i have been in the money a few times.

This year was a little different for me. I picked 1st and had to wait over 20 picks before i got another. At that point, all the really big bats were gone and nobody had picked much for pitchers. I figured at that point that alot of similiar bats were still left and maybe i should grab some big pitching to go with Arod. After waiting through another 20+ picks and seeing people choose some pitching, i didn't feel like the hitting had dropped much and i could grab 2 more solid starters. I did that and went pitching in picks 2-5. I filled in the bats from there and i feel pretty good about my lineup too. I remember watching the guys with big pitching last year and they were tough to catch with those guys going each night. Figuring in on smaller staff and wins meaning alot while innings mean nothing, i really wanted some solid strikeout pitchers.

My mindset may change in the 2nd draft if i pick where i wanted to in the middle of round one!

Pitching may be big this year. Last year wins were only 5 points each and most were just concerned with piling up innings pitched. This year with innings pitched meaning nothing and wins being worth 10 points, i think having solid pitching will really pay off.

                    • Wayne, you're strategy was solid. Getting Arod, and being able to get 4 ace pitchers was huge. I like my team, but I got old guys, is Pedro gonna be any good this year?

I think Pedro could have a really good year assuming his arm holds up. I'm not sure you can get 32 starts out of him but when he pitches, i expect good results!

                        • I have a pitcher on my bench that i think went (17-5) last year (Wang). Hopefully the depth will prepare me for pitching injuries too!

                          • The key is being able to get guys like Pena and Markakis after loading up on pitching. I might try that strategy out if I get the 1st pick on Friday.

I was very surprised to see Pena and Markakis still there when i picked. I really like Brad Hawpe too and i was very happy with that pick!

That was my strategy going in. You'll notice Sun Devil tried it, but I don't think it worked. I had the 4th pick, which I thought was gonna be terrible, was gonna take Santana or Peavy, but J Roll was still there, 600+ from a SS was too much to pass up.
