yes....she is about 65% now....i am trying to get back to florida for labor day.....She is relearning everything and the doctors put her on medicine that has been a miracle.....she went from paranoid and not being able to speak with no memory....to now being able to speak and converse.....still relearning life skills but on the road....has been a long long 9 weeks and i admit i was in Waaaaay over my head....

she is 65 yrs old......She is/was a functioning alcoholic who was put on xanax to help with depression/anxiety....Well it made her suffer psycosis and delusions and paranoia.....During that time she locked herself in the house and did not do anything.....She went from 122 pounds to 89.....Then she suffered gran mal seizures...which were called DT's....caused from detox......She even forgot to drink her alcohol and take her meds.....

These seizures were very violent and made her appear parkinsons like....She could only speak one word at a time.....She was misdiagnosed with Alzheimers.....and another one called Korsakoffs.....However it did not add up for me......

I found a specialist and he has been great....She is up tp 107 and talking and functioning in the household.... Says no way it is Alzheimers or Korsaokoffs.....

If you saw her you would never know she is ill....She looks like the pciture of health....

But when i started to care for her she would make me drive her around all day because she felt "they were watching us"....delusions....

Once she started this new med....she began talking immediately and no more delusions......unbelievable

If i had to do it again i do not think i could muster the strength.......I am a non-smoker and she had been chainsmoking and i have been sleeping on a couch for 2 months.....

but when it is family you just have to step up...especially when you feel the medical care is sub-standard
