Vehicle purchase - Delivery fee

Hi all

Trying to buy a car from Hyundai. All paperwork goes smoothly. Then they send me the dealer invoice and there is a R4500 delivery fee included.

I told them to remove it or I walk. From what i can tell this is a way they pad the invoice to squeeze some margin onto the deal.

Is it normal for this to be added? Its over and above R1500 for license and registration which im cool with

Yeah, I’ve seen that kind of fee added before at dealerships, it’s more common than you’d think. They usually call it a delivery or admin fee, but most of the time it’s just baked into their profit. A few times I’ve pushed back on it and they either dropped it or reduced it, so you’re definitely not out of line asking them to cut it.
