  • Advice on depression

Hello I have a 24 year old son with type 1 and was diagnosed at 16. The last couple of years he has been depressed and will not get help. I have tried and tried to help. Anyone who is dealing with depression or has have any suggestions to help me help him?
    Thank you

Maintaining open communication is crucial. Let your son know that you're there for him and that you're ready to listen whenever he's ready to talk. Sharing your concerns in a non-judgmental way can foster trust and make him more comfortable opening up.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenging situation your son is facing with depression. It's evident that you deeply care for his well-being. Dealing with depression can be incredibly tough, and it's not uncommon for individuals to resist seeking help. It's important to approach this situation with empathy and patience.

Encouraging him to seek professional help is essential. Professional therapists or counselors can provide specialized guidance and support tailored to his situation. You could suggest that he reach out to a depression hotline. Trained professionals on these hotlines can offer assistance, resources, and someone to talk to when he's feeling overwhelmed.
