I have to be honest in saying i've seemingly seen quite a few people here irritated with Bookmaker so that turns me off a little.

How long does it take with BetJam to get going? Can i do it from home with my credit card or do i need to fax them a bunch of shit too?

If Bookmaker which is owned by BetCris ever goes down then no book is safe! BetCris has been around for 21 years.
