Funding with E-Gold

Does anyone know about e-gold ? I know 5 Dimes is accepting funding thru e-gold. Just wondering if anyone has used it ?
They convert your money into gold bullion and avoid any banking regulations. Kinda weird. But I guess it works. Anyone know anything about it ?
