If there's one thing dirtier and uglier than Karl Rove and the Republican propaganda machine, it's Karl Rove and the Republican propaganda machine backed into a corner.
They know that if they lose the House, the truth will come out about just who has been calling the shots in Washington -- and I can tell you it's not the voters who elected them. The spigot for their pals in the oil industry and every other special interest will be clamped down. How far do you think they'll go to keep that from happening?
Today, we're asking you to help the good folks at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) make sure they have the resources to stop these guys from winning another election by playing dirty, really dirty.
The single most important thing you can do right now as a supporter of the DCCC is make a contribution. And to show you just how serious we are, Democratic Leaders offered to match your contributions DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR through June 30th.
One chance to put them back in their corner and knock'em down is quickly approaching on June 30th -- when Democrats and Republicans have to report fundraising totals and the media will judge chances for success. This is where Republicans will try to flex their biceps, and scare us with their special-interest laden money. But we refuse to let them get the better of us.

We only have to say the words "Willie Horton" and "Swiftboat" for you to remember just how low they were willing to go to win past elections. This year, their attacks are going to make those ads look like child's play -- guaranteed.
Just look at the dirty tricks they have already started...
In Pennsylvania, Republican Curt Weldon criticized his Democratic opponent, highly decorated Navy Admiral Joe Sestak, because, when his five year old daughter was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, Admiral Sestak and his wife sent her to the renowned Children's National Medical Center instead of a local hospital.
Or just recently, Republicans actually ran ads trying to link Democratic candidate Francine Busby to a child pornographer in the California special election!
Not one topic is off limits to these guys. When Iraq War veteran Patrick Murphy won the Democratic nomination to take on Republican Mike Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania, one of their most vulnerable Republicans, this was Fitzpatrick's response:
"The voters now have a clear choice between Pat Murphy, a 'cut and run' liberal and me, Mike Fitzpatrick..."
We cannot let them get away with describing an Iraq war veteran as 'cut and run' - And that's what Republicans will be doing all over the country.
This is where the DCCC comes in. In years past, Republicans waltzed in and smothered Democratic candidates with slime and dirty tricks. This time they're going to find a nasty surprise. We just need to make sure the DCCC has enough money to answer these attacks.
The DCCC has set a goal to raise $500,000 by June 30th and they need your help to get there. Help the DCCC fight back against swiftboat-style attacks.

We both worked with Rahm Emanuel in the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign, and to put it mildly, he doesn't take attacks on his friends lightly. Rahm and the DCCC will happily take on the Republicans in a fair fight any day with all the civility in the world. But that's not how the Republicans play the game. So we can either be prepared to fight back and make them eat their words, or we can be outgunned once again.
When a right-wing extremist like Curt Weldon attacks a hero like Admiral Sestak over where his little girl's brain tumor was treated, we're not going to stand for it.
We're George S. Patton Democrats. Gen. Patton famously said, "The purpose of war is not to die for your country. It's to make the other guy die for his country." Well, the purpose of a campaign is not merely to respond when the other guy attacks. It's to make him respond to your attacks.
