  • Do Your Prefer Cats or Dogs

The Ugly Question Thread leads to another obvious question.
Do you prefer cats or dogs and why?
I will repost the response I gave in the Ugly Question Thread, as it summarizes my feelings toward cats.
I fully expect in this thread that those who prefer dogs will far outnumber those who prefer cats.

      Dogs.....they give back....

Cats for the most part just take....and are too independent and just depend on you for a meal.......and they piss everywhere and are nowhere near as trainable as a dog.....

Here are some of the reasons why I like/ prefer cats(at least the cats I have owned);this is no way is to imply that dogs don't do the same thing and/or don't have their own advantages
              1) Independent in many ways(I realize some folks view this as a negative).
              2) Playful
              3) Friendly and affectionate
              4) Instinctively clean-use litterbox and wash themselves several times a day(yeah I know it isn't with soap and water)
              5) Can live to be old if raised as an indoor cat.
Above are just snap reactions, and I am sure I could think of some more.

I used too have both a dog named Jake and a cat named Susie.. I got rid of both of them one afternoon. I come home and Jake was cornholing Susie and got dogknotted I had to call the fire department to get them loose. The neighbors had a lot of fun with me over that one... Jake and Susie both went to seperate homes after that ordeal......

                          I prefer Dogs.

Kittens are great but then they become boring, lazy, do nothing cats.

                            Agree

                            2) Playful

As Kittens they're playful. Cats don't play. Dogs are more playful than cats.

                            3) Friendly and affectionate

My cat is a bitch. She's has neither of these traits.

                            4) Instinctively clean-use litterbox and wash themselves several times a day(yeah I know it isn't with soap and water)

Clean yet but the litterbox stinks up the house.

                            5) Can live to be old if raised as an indoor cat.

A negative. Who wants an old boring cat?

I am curious as to what you expect a cat do when it becomes
a cat. For example, I personally enjoy playing with my cat, watching it chase things and doing other forms of exercise, as well of course the feeling of satisfaction of having the cat just jump on my lap and sleep.
Oh yes-I would venture to say that if a mouse is ever brave/stupid enough to wander into my house, I won't need to buy a mousetrap.
ps This cat is going on 3 years old, but would not be considered a kitten, which I believed is defined up to one year.
