Once You Remove The Emotion From Your Answer You Are Left With The Act Of Marriage Itself As Defined For History As It Pertains To Entitlements And Benefits Associated With Society And Employment, Traditional Marriage Is Between A Man And Woman.
Because We Now Believe We Have To Cater To 10 Percent Of The Population We Find The Govert On Both The State And Federal Level Intervening...................as In The Pass Let The People Decide.
savage1,
you are like the salesman who asks a question and both parties know the answer to....It is called "getting to yes"....I think it is a cheesy way to sell, but it is the obvious answer....
And the obvious answer to your question is of course.....Yet, that takes into account that people who get upset about it do not respond, which is unlikely when it is a flammable topic.....
You know what you are doing and gain pleasure from it.....That is the what this is really about.....
Just admit it....You love to flex your cerebral muscles and impose your way of thinking.....
I have never thought about the topic to be honest with you.....
I don't agree in this case for sure about imposing my way of thinking.
The fact that the subject matter in this particular case is thought provoking does not imply that people have to agree.
A yes/no answer is a vote-nothing more and nothing less.
If anything, I pose this question and the type of answer requested to actually get away from topic which have casued so much bitterness the last few days.
In some ways this question goes beyond just politics because it asks everyone to examine his/her own gut feelings toward the issue, which may be based on religious beliefs and gut reactions.
In my own case, while I don't have stats to back it again, I would say that many who are liberally oriented such as I especially in Massachusetts would probably disagree with me about my own personal response.
If when all is said and done on this thread, I will decide by reading ALL of the responses, reactions, etc. whether in fact this was an appropriate question to ask in the first place and
take my cue from that.
If the majority of responses/answers from those who choose to respond to the question is that it is/was an inappropriate question, then so be it and I will not pose this type of question in the future.
Obviously, those who merely take the opportunity to use the thread to call me names and not say anything about the question at hand are of no significance and don't count.
You yourself chose to post some good topics some of which interested me and some of which didn't;I obviously responded to those which interested me and didn't bother to even read the other topics or responses because I was not really that interested in the subject matter to begin with.
Hope above helps to explain my feelings.
Personally I think gays should be allowed to marry.
There is this notion from opponents of gay marriage that marriage is a sacred institution and should be protected and treasured solely for heterosexual unions. Yet as we all know, over 50 percent of heterosexual marriages end in divorce. Not so sacred and not so treasured. And I think I read somewhere that a higher percentage of homosexual couples stay together.
The fact is marriage was created as a financial transaction to retain property rights not all these romantic notions of love, etc.
Someday I hope to be married. And if gay marriage is sanctioned, that in no way will impinge on my freedom or my own marriage. And that is one of the basic tenets of American society. Freedom to do as you wish as long as you're not restricting the freedom of others.
Remember, one just man causes the Devil greater affliction than a million blind believers

2) Do you think it is up to each individual state to decide its own individual policy on this issue or whether federal government should be involved to determine perhaps ban gay marriages in all the states?
