As each day passes this country becomes more and more of a disgrace. We can only blame the Savage type of mentality.

Actually the buck stops with GEORGE BUSH and the disgrace he has brought to this country, whether you want to call it the US or America and the unfortunate 29% of the folks like Cheech who are blind and still support this deceptive, self-serving, incompetent idiot!
ps Just remember who started it up today!

My 2 cents here. I understand Savage is not a Bush fan and he has every right to his belief. I could not disagree more with him on virtually every issue. But the downfall of this country will not come about because of this war. Our downfall will come from within. In my opinion, political correctness has done an unbelievable amount of harm to this country. From the immigrant issue to every other issue the left sees fit to jump on, our ability to simply speak has been compromised. No one has the balls anymore to get up and call a spade a spade for fear of insulting some group of people. The overwhelming number of Americans want the borders closed and our Reps. basically ignore us because we might hurt some feelings. We want tax reform but the lazy asses might have to get up and do something and we certainly can't offend them. I could go on and on.

Conservatives like myself are growing more and more frustrated by the day. There is an underlying anger building as the foundations of our country are repeatedly attacked with very few people standing up to defend them. I am fed up with the current crop of Republicans because they have compromised on the issues we elected them to handle. They are not governing on the philosphy they ran on.

But I'll tell you this, I will never support a party that promotes socialist ideals and does not see anything wrong with punishing success. I long for the day when an American President would stand up and say: I love my country. I believe in the ideals that made this country great. First and foremost, a belief in freedom. We will encourage every citizen to do his or her best and will help when we can. But each of us has a personal responsibility to be the best husband, wife, mother, father, PERSON we can be. We serve the American people, you do not serve us. And we will always act in the best interest of the United States of America first. The days of every one else coming first have to cease. We don't have to be liked by everyone. It's time to look within and repair what's ours. It's time to get back to what it was that made this country the greatest country on Earth.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of who we are. It's time to do away with the inherent guilt the Left has manipulated us into feeling.

Te14-your post is very well written and expressed, and I respect your point of view although obviously I disagree with part of it.
I think in general my biggest disagreement has to do with the last few sentences.
While I cannot argue about your premsie about making the US the first priority, there seems to be an implicit assumption that the US exists in a vacuum, and that actions taken by us cannot have worldwide repercussions which could effect us.
Today as you know we live in very periled times where just a simple misunderstanding could trigger World War 3 and for all we know the destruction of humanity.
Communication and understanding/intent of motivation of US actions are in my opinion important BOTH within the confines of the US AND in other countries;how for example can it be construed as good if million if not billions of people in the world view us as an imperialist, meddling nation?
One recent example of flawed thinking occurred when the leader of Iran wrote an 18 page letter to Bush, which he completely ignored.
Sure Iran with their nuclear ambitions represents a huge threat to Israel and to the peace of the world in general, but even so, to ignore it is not a good option.
The letter was an opening, and in this day and age, that is better than nothing and at the very least a possible start.
Please tell me why you think(if you do) that Bush acted correctly in this instance.

Man, if you knew how much this issue gets my blood boiling! I've had family members suggest my getting involved but like alot of other good people who decide against running for office, old skeletons in my closet have prevented it.

To say that we have to take care of ourselves first does not mean that we ignore our responsibilities to the rest of the world. But our responsibilities to OUR country must come first and that's where I feel we have fallen short.

As to why Bush '"ignored" the letter from Iran. What is he supposed to say, "thank you?" This man has professed a hatred for us and in no way is this leader one we can trust. That brings me to my main point about this war and terrorism issue: I believe we don't have to wait for a misunderstanding to start WW3. I believe it's already here. All across the world, battles are being fought between Muslims and the people they "hate." No country is spared, not even the ones who opposed us in our efforts in Iraq. I personally feel that Bush would be much better served if he framed this battle in those terms.

We will never live in a vacuum as a country, too many other countries depend on our hand outs.

The fact the man hates us is no reason to ignore his letter!
One has to accept that he exists, and what does US have to lose by corresponding with him? Maybe he is looking for some kind of a compromise (for lack of a better term).
The "ram the US/Bush way of doing things" down the throats of other countries(politically speaking) is neither good for ourselves in the long run and for our standing in the world(which I think because of reasons stated before is equally important).

Thanks- it's only because I believe it so strongly. I also believe the majority of Americans feel the same way, they're just too scared to say it in public.
